Anatomy and Character Studies!

This class was by far one of my faves- I enjoyed having the opportunity to learn from someone in the industry for how to make character designs POP.

This includes:

Sketches, back stories and blocking!

Final Characters:

HERO AND VILLAIN

Using the board above, I took my faves, and dropped them in my drawing program and found my exact likes and dislikes from them. This process helped me to build the characters and find their personality before actually SEEING them.

Using PureRef to build my reference boards. I also used them here to hold all my clothing ideas I had for both of their civilian and work outfits.

Villain:
Corvous Julien Owen

The design for Corvous came quick and without much of a hassle! I found his design very amusing given the fact he’d be cover in blood or grease and Knox wouldn’t recognize him without it.

Hero:
Knox Hawthorne

Knox’s hair gave me the most issue here, I wanted a smoother silhouette without losing the length of his hair in his coat. Which I also couldn’t decide at this point of the process if I wanted a long coat, or a short one.

Otherwise his design come out pretty slow, but he gave me more ideas when looking for inspiration.

TOP Favourite Characters:

Cassidy Shaw

Cassidy was for my first assignment of Semester 2! I really enjoyed the process of trying to come up with different type of character than I was designing during the first semester.

She’s related to another character I designed at the very start of semester 1! Daniel Shaw.

I planned a two part comic featuring her
and her uncle Daniel!

Solomon Dracarius

When designing this character, we were told to use a dice and roll for each design element, from a chart based on Dungeons and Dragons.

I rolled: Tiefling, Paladin Warlock, Entertainer
(added the Warlock after the fact, as I wanted him to be attached to an Ancient Archfey that I plan on designing later)

I mostly had an eye for how I could potentially use him going forwards. He is now being written a proper story.

The following is the rest of what I worked on through the program!
